What we have said so far is only a small part of this amazing story. God was not finished with the Sabbath. He had even loftier plans for the Sabbath – our Redemption!
However awesome and complex and powerful and glorious the creation is – our Redemption is more so in every way. Creation story fills the first three chapters of the first book of the Bible – (and a sprinkling of Scriptures throughout the Bible). But the Redemption story fills the rest of the whole Bible.
As the information became progressively available, we became more and more aware, that the same mysterious Sabbath is entrusted to carry also the Redemption glory. Can you imagine? Wherever there is day and night, Sun and Moon, the weekly cycle – there the Sabbath carries the story of Jesus and the Cross. That same monument in time will carry the awe inspiring story of Creation and the loftiest undertaking ever carried out – our Redemption story – to wherever people live.
I will tell you a little secret now. This secret will be revealed only at the end of this Sabbath article. But this here is a small preview, and I hope you will forgive me. The secret is that this remarkable mysterious blessed Sabbath day, which now inspires feelings of reverential respect mixed with awe and wonder – will continue its God-appointed mission even on the earth made new – when all traces of sin and rebellion will be wiped out forever. There, all flesh shall come regularly from Sabbath to Sabbath to worship before Me, says the Lord. (Isaiah 66:23). You can probably imagine how the Sabbath will tell its God-entrusted story with eloquence and freshness in the power and exuberance of the new eternal life. It is not clearly stated, but one can easily conclude that the Sabbath will happily and loyally carry its mandate throughout all eternity. Well, we will soon hear all about it from the One who knows – from Jesus Christ Himself.
