Of all the great and precious promises God gave us, He has fulfilled all but one. This final one is the grand finale of our Redemption story – it is the Second Coming of Christ. God and Jesus Christ have worked long and hard to get us safely to where we now stand.
“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.”
Romans 5:1-2 NLT
All the objectives they set out to do have been gloriously achieved – although, at great pain and at an unimaginable cost to themselves. It was only the Godly, the heavenly love which propelled them over the impassable hurdles – but they never stopped to reconsider. Never asked the question: Is the price we are paying too high? No. We can say with absolute certainty that such a question never even crossed their minds. Why? Answer is plain. Love! Divine love! Love which is too deep and too broad and to grand for us to understand. Yes. We do have some insights into its grandeur, and its power and glory. But it is infinite – and therefore is over and beyond us. It is the amazement of this Divine love which has inspired one writer to leave us this priceless gem:
‘I think, for a person who loves God, the eternal life will be a continually deepening journey into the wonder and bliss of His love. Spending eternity with God will be a ceaseless, ever deepening love relationship of extreme happiness… an endless falling in love with the most beautiful and most virtuous person in the whole universe… with God.’
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”
Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT
God wants us to be with Him. Just the thought of it gave Him great pleasure. Evangelist Dwight Moody in a solemn manner revealed his finding that the event of Christ’s Second Coming is mentioned two thousand five hundred times in Scripture. According to Romans 5:1-2, “we are confidently and joyfully looking forward to sharing God’s glory.” Yes. The Second Coming is the Blessed Hope, the crescendo of the work God did for us and in us through the self sacrifice of Jesus.
Therefore, we are eagerly…
“looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,”
Titus 2:13 NKJV
